An inveterate scribbler, he is always keen to inflict his poetry on anyone foolhardy enough to listen. Inglebrook is his first venture into publishing.

Inglebrook
During transition leave from Weston College, Alan Merrythought, who, at the tender age of eighteen, is already recognised as one of the country’s leading experts on rare books and manuscripts, travels to the town of Inglebrook. Alan is something of a child prodigy, with a vast reservoir of literary knowledge and an IQ way beyond his years and experience.
Inglebrook is, for Alan, a place apart. The medieval-style buildings, the tavern-cum –hotel where he secures lodgings, the mansion where the priceless books are kept, and most especially, Stephanie, the beautiful young woman he falls madly in love with. He meets Victor Inglebrook, the squire, whose knowledge about books surpasses even that of his won. But there is something going on: some enigma at the heart of the place that keeps eluding him. And when a murder disturbs the silence in Inglebrook, is Alan as guilty as he first appears?
As we meet the varied characters who populate the cloistered world of Inglebrook, the town’s deepest and darkest secrets are slowly revealed one by one. But those dark secrets are illuminated by moments of great humour, as Alan discovers the truth not just about Inglebrook, but also about himself.
